A Card for my best friends

Image
We were inviting our friends over for lunch, so I thought, Why not make a card too? As I was in a creative and festive mood then, I began straightaway. :) I decided that a yellow background would look great, so I cut a yellow paper into half and folded it. Then I cut out squares and rectangles of all sizes from colored paper and glued them in an interesting way. I couldn't decided whether to write 'cherish' or 'friends' on the card with stickers. I finally decided on 'cherish' because it seemed more suitable. :D I used these cool letter stickers to spell 'Cherish'. Then I don't know what got into me, I traced the shapes and the word 'cherish' all over with blue pen. Then I added dots in the corner. My sister said it didn't look good but I decided it gave an overall funky look. I wrote a short message on one side and then decided to write a quote about friendship. I found this on the net: "It is one of the blessings  of

Still Life with Chalk pastels

Image
Anyone who has previously worked with chalk pastels will always have messy expectations from the medium. However smudgy and untidy they are, chalk pastels are always fun and thrilling to use. This is the first time I drew something with them and I was satisfied with the results. ;) This is a still life I did just recently. The objects, although very unique,(a pear, a capsicum, a mortar and pestle, and a little ball) are in harmony because the colors are all warm colors. I'm sorry it smudged a bit, but that's quite natural. :D At least it is better than the ones I previously drew. The only trick I have learnt yet is to keep these pastels from spreading is not letting your hand touch the sheet. It helps, but of course, that wouldn't prevent it completely  from smudging!

Some Great posters

Image
These are some posters I made in December. This one, which I made earlier, is about politics. I have made lots of  mukkas  because they symbolize strength, and politics in Pakistan is all about power. The different colours, sizes, and shapes are because each of the political parties are different in strength and vision. There are different ways of viewing this poster. This poster is difficult to understand unless you ponder on it. Most people wrongly understand that these are children playing football. Let me explain. I have tried to show that these are people(or different countries perhaps), who are  playing  (misusing) with the earth, kicking it about like a football. To show diversity, I have made them T-shirts of different colors, and the numbers on them represent strength.  Thank you

A beautiful Mobile Case

Image
This is a Mobile Case I recently made for my Khala. Luckily, I found lots of matching materials when I skimmed through my collection of scraps-all these I already owned. :D For the background I chose a beautiful royal purple fabric. I then found a great purple banarsi piece, which I used at the back and matched the same one to trim on the front flap. This added more neatness. I was thinking of attaching a tich button on the flap, but I got a better idea: A loop and a button! I digged in my overflowing drawer and found a lavender coloured piece of cord. I stitched it on as a loop and added the button. Ta-da! My mobile case was done. The front side... ....And the back So, If any of you would like to have a case for your own mobile made, please share with me, via email(zainab.salman06@gmail.com) or in the comments below: -The dimensions and/or the model of your mobile phone -Your gender and favorite color (or the person for whom you want to order) -How you would
