Another canvas painting with Make-up: Illusion
I am so sorry for not being able to post in October until yet! Anyways, here is a painting I made around late September; make-up on canvas once again.
I made this one on a 10" by 10" inches canvas. Although I intended to make something entirely with lip-gloss initially, I did not have enough of it and the it was too dull so I was compelled to use lipstick(I hate everything dull). Later on I used some eye-shadow for the clouds and too make the buildings look shiny.
I did not have any plan for this beforehand, nor did I make any initial sketches; I just pulled off the plastic covering from the canvas and got to work. I thought I would make something abstract but that didn't just happen. I made a few lipstick strokes and then decided that it was a building, then made more buildings.
This is called 'Illusion' because I think the attractions of the worldly life look attractive and colourful at first sight but are in reality are rather hollow.
I guess this looks rather childlike, but I don't care. This conveys what I am trying to say, so I'm satisfied with it. xD
sorry for the bad quality :/ There was something wrong with our DSLR's memory cards so I had to take this picture with my mother's phone |

DeleteAnd..............you did!
DeleteOh wow!! I adore the various different textures and shades of pink you've used for the differing buildings in this one! The bright pink adds a cool pop to the overall image. It's interesting how you used eye shadow for the clouds because you can easily spot the contrast in swapping the mediums... and they look pretty "shadow"y like proper clouds if you see what I mean. ;) Your descriptions of how you went about this are so captivating! To be honest, drawings that come straight from your imagination into the tip of your pen (or make-up utensil haha) are often more natural than ideas that are pushed through various different processes (like in initial sketches as you mentioned there). :) Also I don't think I could have come up with a better title than "Illusion"! On the contrary to what you mentioned there about this looking childlike, I was initially thinking about a Modern Arts book I had a look at this morning and this piece seemed like something that would be in the book. (Although imo your piece is far better than a lot of the other paintings I found in the book! xD) I'm really intrigued by your cosmetic paintings and I hope you'll share more in future! :D
